Message from Father PaddyI arrived in the parish in March 2011 as the parish Priest after twelve years of serving as a full time Chaplain in the Royal Australian Navy. My appointment is the first time in the history of the parish that there is only one priest to minister to the parish. My residence is on the school site to the corner of Bourke Street and Fernleigh Road.
As well as the parish (masses/liturgies/sacramental needs), I am also responsible for Calvary Hospital, The Forrest Centre, The Haven and the RSL Remembrance Village. In addition to my responsibilities to the School, I am also involved with Kildare Catholic College and I continue to do Reserve Chaplaincy with the Navy. I am tremendously enjoying my association with Henschke Catholic Primary School. It is important that new families understand the important relationship between the parish and the school. Enrolling your children here will bring them in contact with Catholic culture including liturgies (mass) and the sacraments. It is my intention that Catholic children in the State School System will receive their sacraments alongside the students from Henschke to underscore the parish identity. Should you have any questions about the Catholic faith and the expectations of the parish on you as parents, please do not hesitate to contact me. Yours in Christ Fr Paddy Sykes Parish Priest |
