Three Sacramental programs are taught at Henschke, as almost 300 children are prepared and presented for First Reconciliation, First Holy Communion and Confirmation. The dedication of the teachers and the faith-filled response of the children is always a highlight for us all. We thank our Priests and Bishop Hanna for their support and confidence. Commitment Masses for all three of the Sacramental programs are held at the weekend to reinforce our place within the Parish of Our Lady of Fatima and to allow as many parents as possible to attend. For all Sacramental programs, Reconciliation is held in our Parish Church on an evening to give our parents the opportunity to receive this wonderful sacrament with their children.
Our Church is committed to Social Justice and we want our students to walk the path of Jesus and live out their Christian mission to reach out to all in need. Our work with the St Vincent de Paul Society is ongoing and on the feast of St Vincent de Paul (end of Term 3) the children hand over 30 baskets of groceries that they have collected for our local Society. We are in the process of starting a ‘Mini Vinnies’ which is a St Vincent de Paul initiative for primary schools, it is mainly for Years 5 and 6.
Most weeks see us gather as a Eucharistic community at School Mass. All children attend at least two whole school masses and primary children at least two stage masses each term. Outside of our Eucharistic celebrations and class prayers we celebrate Paraliturgies for Holy Week and Reconciliation. In Term 4 we celebrate our Advent Paraliturgies.
Year 6 celebrate their Graduation Mass in Week 9. Our final whole school mass is celebrated with the giving of gifts to the St Vincent de Paul Society.
